2 injured in Ephrata crash

Firefighters and rescue crews worked for over fifty minutes to free a Denver man and his passenger while the two were entrapped in the wreckage of a single-vehicle crash Thursday night in Ephrata.

Borough police said 20-year-old Vasiliy Trubachev lost control and struck a utility pole in the first block of South Academy Drive at around 7:30 p.m.

Trubachev and 20-year-old Dennis Shilov, also of Denver, were both transported to hospitals with traumatic injuries, police said.

Shilov was flown to a hospital by helicopter, and Trubachev was transported by ambulance.

Police said high speed was a factor in the cause of the crash.
