Middletown Borough officials received a letter from signed by several downtown Middletown business owners pledging their support for the borough to pursue a revitalization plan.

Right now, the project is in the discussion phase with no set date for one to be drawn up but there has been talk that a plan could focus on improving the crumbling infrastructure in the downtown area.

Some say they'd like to see the borough become a destination location and many feel turning the Elk's Theatre into a performing arts center could attract people.

Robin Pelligrini owns Alfred's Victorian on Union Street.  She says business owners will take part in the planning process with the contractor.  She says engaging business leaders and members of the community will keep interest level high.

So far there is no dollar amount attached to the project, but borough officials say they will pursue all financial avenues to fund the work.
