A Harrisburg man found dead Thursday in his South 15th
Street apartment was killed by a single gunshot wound to the head, according the Dauphin County coroner.
Coroner Graham Hetrick said Friday that an autopsy confirmed the death of 25-year-old Robert Diggs Jr. is a homicide.
“The reason I'm saying it's a homicide today is because of things that I saw on the body that would be inconsistent with anything but a homicide,” Hetrick said during a news conference.
Hetrick said Diggs was killed in the main living area of the apartment early Wednesday, a timeframe consistent with reports of neighbors who said they heard gunshots. One neighbor said phone calls were made to police, but officers did not respond.
According to a police news release, a woman reported Wednesday night that she had been at a party where a man was shot earlier that morning, but she didn't know the location of the party because she is not from the area.
Officers eventually found Diggs dead on his dining room floor shortly before 4 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Police have announced no suspects or arrests in the killing.
