Police: bicyclist dies after being hit by drunk driver

State police in Cumberland County said a bicyclist has died after being hit by a suspected drunk driver Friday.

Jeffrey Coons, 48, died Saturday morning after being flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center, according to troopers.

According to police, Coons was biking on Airport Road in Southampton Township around 10 p.m. Friday when he was hit from behind by a car driven by 42-year-old Mark Nealy.

Troopers said Nealy was subsequently taken into custody for a blood test. Charges are pending.
