2 injured in plane crash in York County

Two people were injured when a small plane crashed on takeoff Thursday morning at an airport south of Brogue in York County, according to state police.

Trooper Robert Hicks said the plane struck some utility pole wires and crashed at the Baublitz Commercial Airport, in the 300 block of Muddy Creek Forks Road in Chanceford Township, shortly after 10:30 a.m.

According to Met-Ed, 240 customers were without power after the crash. It was restored at 12:45 p.m.

The pilot, 20-year-old Randy Shoemaker, and his passenger, 61-year-old Laurence Stone, both of Windsor, were transported to York hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Hicks said.

The FAA has been notified and the crash is under investigation.
