Man arrested for break-in at ex-girlfriend’s home

A Lancaster County man was arrested early Thursday on charges he broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and got into a fight with her stepfather.

New Holland police said they charged 31-year-old Jeremiah J. Harnish with criminal trespass, simple assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, loitering and prowling at night, and disorderly conduct.

Harnish, of Narvon, is accused of climbing onto the roof of the Earl Township home and forcing his way into a window at around 12:20 a.m., according to police.

His ex-girlfriend got her stepfather, who encountered Harnish and got into a physical fight with him before Harnish fled, police said.

Responding officers searched the neighborhood and arrested Harnish after they found him hiding in bushes, police said.
