Police: Woman took advantage of good deed, stole purse

Police hope someone will recognize a woman who allegedly made off with a purse from a Harrisburg area grocery store, and took advantage of another person's attempt at a good deed.

Susquehanna Township police said the 80-year-old owner of the purse left her purse in a cart at the front of the Price Rite, at 3812 Union Deposit Road, on March 15.

A man who found the purse thought it belonged to another woman and gave the purse to her, not knowing that the rightful owner had just left the parking lot, police said.

Police said they are now attempting to identify the woman who took the purse through surveillance photos of her and her van.

Anyone who can identify her is asked to call the Susquehanna Township Police Department at 717-909-9259.
