Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in West Manheim Township, York County.
Township police said a woman driving a northbound 1986 Buick Century that crossed into the path of a southbound 2012 Nissan Rogue and collided head-on in the 2100 block of Baltimore Pike at around 5:35 p.m.
The driver of the Buick died on impact, police said. Her name was being withheld until her family from out of state is notified.
The driver of the Nissan, 54-year-old Arliss Thomas Sr., of Hanover, was transported to York Hospital, where he was being treated for with multiple fractures, police said. He remained in the hospital Thursday afternoon.
A passenger in the Nissan, 22-year-old Arliss Thomas Jr., also of Hanover, was released after treatment at York Hospital for minor injuries.
Witnesses told investigators that the woman in the Buick was moving at a high rate of speed, driving in the opposite lane and unlawfully passing, which forced a southbound pickup truck off the roadway near the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Fuhrman Mill Road, according to police.
Police said they are awaiting toxicology test results to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
