A Lebanon County man has been ordered to stand trial for making thousands of lewd and harassing telephone calls to at least 75 women in four states.
Robert John Glass, 52, of Myerstown, waived his preliminary hearing Thursday before District Judge Carl Garver, who forwarded the case to county court.
North Londonderry Township police accuse Glass of making more than 17,000 phone calls to women in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and New Jersey during a 108-day period between August and December 18.
He was arrested in January on 30 counts each of stalking and harassment by communication.
Glass called one woman more than 100 times, and a 13-year-old girl described his comments as so lewd she would not repeat them, according to police.
North Londonderry Detective Toby Pokrop said Glass apparently did not know the women, but likely picked their names at random from a telephone directory. He said Glass has admitted to the crimes.
standpoint was that he needs help,” Pokrop said. “My concern with that is that this is a pattern with him. Is help
gonna be what he needs? Has he had help before? This isn't his first
time, that's for sure.”
documents indicate Glass has previous arrests for making lewd phones calls in York, Lancaster,
Dauphin and Montgomery counties.
He was returned to the Lebanon County Prison after the hearing. His bail has been set at $25,000.
His attorney had no comment.
