Pa. university coaches approve new contract

Coaches at Pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities have approved a new contract with the State System of Higher Education.

Lauren Gutshall, spokeswoman for the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties, said more than 97 percent of the coaches who voted approved ratification of the
contract.

The PASSHE Board of Governors must also vote on the agreement.

Gutshall said the contract includes an increase in minimum salaries and a revised health care co-payment.

Coaches and state university faculty have been working without a contract since July 1, 2011.

Faculty represented by APSCUF will vote on the ratification of their tentative agreement in early March.
