Pony meet-and-greet, fundraiser for rescued horses Saturday night

The Harrisburg Humane Society will hold a spaghetti dinner, prize give away and pony meet-and-greet tonight to raise money for the care of 29 sickly horses seized from a Dauphin County farm last month.

The Humane Society said it could cost up to $100,000 to take care of the animals, who were all in critical condition when they were seized in January from a farm off of Laudermich Road near Hershey.  Officials say they got little food and medical attention from their owner.

The youngest of the horses is 9-month-old Prayer, who is currently being fostered at a farm in Perry County. She will be at the event from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The Lancaster City Police Mounted Unit and their horses will also be there throughout the evening to hand out trading cards.

The Humane Society and Z-Country 106.7 will be giving away a Kenny Chesney concert package, which includes two tickets to a presidential suite for the Chesney's June 8 concert in Philadelphia. Supporters can enter by making a donation of $10 or more at www.zcountry1067.com and can purchase additional chances at the spaghetti dinner.

The fundraiser will be held at the Hummelstown Fire Hall at 249-251 East Main Street from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 years old and under.

Rascal, the Harrisburg Senators' mascot, will be at the event from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
