The Harrisburg Bureau of Police is about to get bigger.

Seven new officers were sworn in Friday morning. After a few weeks of training, most of them will be on the streets in early spring.

The new officers bring the city's police force up to 142. Police Chief Pierre Ritter called the increase a good start, since the force should be at around 180 officers.

More officers are expected to be hired in July.
