Police: Harrisburg man shot himself with found gun

A 20-year-old Harrisburg man told police he accidentally shot himself with a gun he found and decided to keep.

Harrisburg police said Tyron Mosley had a bullet wound to his thigh when they found him Wednesday morning on a porch in the 1400 block of Vernon Street.

Mosley said he was checking out the gun when somehow it fired and struck him in the leg, according to police.

He claimed he then threw the gun over a fence, but officers were not able to find it, police said.

Mosley was charged with illegal possession of a firearm.

Police said he is expected to recover soon.
