Harrisburg man hospitalized after being shot 6 times

A 30-year-old Harrisburg man told police he was shot when he tried to run from a robber Wednesday night in the in the 1500 block of Derry Street.

Responding officers found the victim inside the Rivas Deli-Grocery on Vernon Street at around 6:20 p.m. after the owner called 911 to report that a bleeding man was on the floor in the back of the store.

The victim told investigators that he had just left the home of a
friend when he was attacked from behind by the robber, who hit him and
demanded his wallet, police said.

The victim broke free and was running for help when the robber pulled out a handgun and shot him six
times, police said. He was shot twice in the arm, twice
in the back and twice in the leg.

The victim was taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Police said none of the small caliber bullets hit any vital organs and the man is
expected to recover soon.

He described the gunman as a thin black male, about 25 years old and about 6'0″ tall, with a light complexion and wearing a white
jacket and black hat.
