Bill Hillmeyer set up a birthday surprise for his daughter Aubrey on her 12th birthday, which just so happened to fall on the unique date of 12-12-12.
“I told her I was going to work this morning,” Hillmeyer said. “I got in my work clothes and got out the door.”
But instead, Aubrey's dad, mom and little brother surprised her at St. Patrick School in York with a song and gifts to celebrate her big day.
Of course, the surprise happened at exactly noon.
“I was really overjoyed and surprised,” Aubrey said.
“I could see she was very speechless, which is a good thing because there was a big smile on her face,” her father added.
Born 12 years ago, Aubrey's parents said the delivery took 12 hours. And the coincidences don't end there. Her mom, Jennifer, is 12 weeks pregnant.
“I am 12 weeks, five days today,” she said.
The icing on the cake for Aubrey was a white gold topaz ring, but she also enjoyed being the center of attention during a birthday month that can often get overshadowed by other holidays.
“It's like a once and a lifetime thing,” Aubrey said.
Meanwhile, in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, a couple chose to save 12-12-12 as their special date.
Michael and Dawn Webster exchanged vows at District Judge Richard Dougherty's office.
“It's something to remember, something for the kids to share in,” said Michael Webster.
“It's just perfect,” said his new bride.
