Harrisburg girl, 15, reports she was abducted, sexually assaulted

Police are investigating a report that a masked man abducted and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old Harrisburg girl.

The girl said she was walking to the home of a relative at around 4 p.m. Tuesday when the man stopped the dark gray large SUV in the 1800 block of Chestnut Street, got out and grabbed the girl, then forced her into the back seat, city police said.

Another man then drove the SUV as the attacker tore the girl's clothing and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Somehow the girl was able to get away and went for help. She was treated in the emergency room at Harrisburg Hospital, police said.

She described her attacker as a Hispanic man with a long braid in his hair, wearing a black mask and black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up. The other man was said to be black, but no other features were noted, police said.

Neighbors were stunned.

“It's frightening. I got kids going to school;  two girls, one in high school, one going to junior high and it's frightening to think of something like this on our block,” Robin Nash said.

“It's shocking that it happened on this block,” Tracy Davis said.

Police said the girl will be interviewed by a child abuse specialist and more information is expected to follow.
