Confess. You did it and it wasn't pretty. Turkey. Stuffing. Pumpkin pie. On Black Friday there was a way to come clean for free. 'Trim the Fat Friday'.

Some shoppers swear Black Friday is both a workout and competition. But, for those who wanted to miss headaches, long lines, and parking space battles went to Gold's Gym in Camp Hill.

“If we make the gym free today it does break down that resistance to exercise,” said gym manager Joyce Freeman.

More than 250 people took advantage of the workout chain's promotion, 'Trim the Fat Friday.' From 4:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Black Friday participating Gold's Gyms gave anyone who wanted to shed guilt and pounds a free workout.

Jody Brelsford confessed he needed a day to detox after gorging himself.

“Given the crowded parking lots across the street or the empty machines in here. This is where people should be,” said Brelsford.

You might agree after knowing the Calorie Counters Association reported the average American eats 4,500 calories and 229 grams of fat on Thanksgiving.

Nutritionists at Gold's Gym said someone would have to sweat for 44 minutes on the climber for one serving of stuffing. A slice of pumpkin pie will earn you 63 minutes on the walking treadmill.

“If I ate nothing but dessert yesterday, I'd still be here to closing time,” joked Brelsford.

What's not funny is that we gain an average of 10 lbs. during the holiday season. Perhaps, that's why most of us come New Year's Day swear this is the year to lose the gut.

Freeman suggested, why not be proactive and start now.

“Take it slowly, drink lots of water, and try the gym.”
