A New Jersey woman who allegedly killed her mother with a pickaxe was arrested in Lancaster after she went to a hospital and told employees she had been involved in a homicide, according to police.
Regina Wallace, 33, was being held in Lancaster County Prison on $1 million bail pending her extradition to New Jersey, police said.
Police officers were called to Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday night after Wallace told the staff she had been involved in a homicide in Ewing, New Jersey, police said.
Officers notified police in Ewing, who then checked the home of 53-year-old Sharon Wallace and found her dead, police said.
The motive for the murder remains under investigation, police said.
