A former used car dealership in northern Dauphin County previously cited for several violations is now under investigation for allegations of embezzlement and additional crimes, according to state police.

Trooper David Kuhns of the Pennsylvania State Police Vehicle Fraud Investigators unit said there are allegations that large amounts of money have been taken from the account of Taylor's Auto Sales in Halifax over the past year.

Kuhns said in a news release that the investigation is in its early stages, but the damages may exceed $100,000.

He said an audit found a large number of vehicle sales were not sent to the state Department of Transportation for processing. PennDOT is currently working to transfer the vehicles to their buyers.

The dealership is currently out of business.

State police previously cited Taylor's in January following a report by abc27 News. The violations found at the dealership at that time included late title submissions to PennDOT, unlicensed sales people, and unprofessional conduct by a licensed dealer.

Police have said at least three customers reported that their temporary registration expired 90 days after purchasing vehicles from Taylor's. Auto dealers have 20 days to send the paperwork to PennDOT.
