A Maryland couple has been indicted on federal charges stemming from four bank robberies in Franklin, York, and Cumberland counties.
Jason Dixon, 44, of Baltimore, and Shawnette Fleet, 43, of Essex, face 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each of count if convicted, according to U.S. Attorney Peter Smith.
The couple were charged in the March 10 robberies of the American Community Federal Credit Union and the Patriot Federal Credit Union in Chambersburg, a July 28 heist at the AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union in York Township, and an August 10 holdup at the AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union in Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County.
Smith said the couple stole about $56,000 in the four robberies.
The pair were arrested while fleeing the Aug. 10 robbery on Interstate 83 in York County. Police who made the arrest have said Dixon had a handgun and a large bag of cash when the couple was stopped south of the Stewartstown Exit.
