HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A 58-year-old Harrisburg man well-known among local musicians died Thursday night after he stepped into the path of a car in the 1500 block of State Street, according to police.
Gregory Johnson was wearing dark clothing and apparently was walking north when he was struck by the eastbound vehicle, police said.
Johnson was a keyboardist who played for Joe Cocker in addition to several local bands.
He was being treated by a city fireman when police arrived at around 7:45 p.m. He was taken to Harrisburg Hospital and pronounced dead at around 8:30 p.m.
Investigators said it was snowing and the roadway was wet when the incident occurred.
The woman driving the car, who had her two children with her, stopped immediately, police said.
