Dauphin County Prison in lockdown after inmate assault

The Dauphin County Prison is in lockdown after three inmates assaulted another. The victim sustained a 6-inch cut to his throat.

According to officials, the victim was assaulted by three other inmates around 10:30 a.m. with a homemade metal weapon. He is reportedly in good condition after receiving seven stitches.

The prison warden says officers responded and immediately secured the jail and restored order. The weapon used in the attack was recovered in a search. Dauphin County's Criminal Investigation Division is investigating.

During a lockdown, officials say, prisoners must remain in their cells and visitation is restricted. The lockdown will remain in place until a thorough search of the prison is complete.
